philbillbass Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 My rig is great but i just need another cab to get the full out of my amp so it is loud enough for a big gig! Should i just get another gk 210 ? [attachment=455:P1010004.JPG] Quote
Waldo Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Another GK 2x10 would give you a nice loud, portable rig I think. It's nice to see someone else from the Wirral here Quote
rodl2005 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 U want loud-go Schroeder cabs or Bergantino(my Fave)!! both make very efficient loud cabs that sound GREAT IMHO. Quote
Cantdosleepy Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Whilst I'm sure those cabs are lovely, he seems to be using a GK speaker that costs around £130, and is thinking about buying another one for £130. (apologies if I've mistaken the model and it's one of the higher end ones) I'm not sure if those high-end ones are necessarily in the budget. Hey PhillBillBass, how does it sound? Modern-y? Vintage-y? Boom-y? Detailed-y? Interested parties would like to know... Quote
philbillbass Posted June 6, 2007 Author Posted June 6, 2007 wel it aint the £130 speakers i wil tell u that it is the sbx model which is nearer £300 !! they sound good all i can describe them is clean , seen as i have a mark bass head it amplifies your bass adding no color and i think the gk's are just as clean sounding! philbillbass Posted June 6, 2007 Author Posted June 6, 2007 oh yes and whilst i think on i must easy be able to get the cabs from the uk. Preferably at around £300! Quote
philbillbass Posted June 6, 2007 Author Posted June 6, 2007 oh yeah and i am guessing i need to match the wattages up ? the gk cab is 400 watts at 8 ohms so that means i need to get another cab that has the same specs? Quote

It's 4 ohm, 1000 watt. Plus you can look classy with a glass of pinor noir onstage, saves going to the bar as well. Sorry man, couldn't help it. Quote

warwickhunt Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 IMHO getting a cab by a different manufacturer or a different speaker size etc. probably means a compromise on your EQing, as I doubt the two cabs would require identical EQ settings in various situations. Go with doubling up what you have especially if you like the tone already. Quote
philbillbass Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 yeah i really don't think i am up for building a cab to be honest! i think based on the last comment that is a sensible idea to go with the same cabinet so should i get a 1x15 or another 2x10 i got the 2x10 first as my other amp an old laney had a 1x15 speaker and i just thought it was a bit boomy on its own so maybe the 1x15 will sound good with a 2x10. so another 2x10 or a 1x15 Quote
