Stingray String Mutes

I'm after some string mutes for my Stingray, I remember someone on BC said they got some new from a some shop but I can't find the thread with the shop name,

You could always try cutting up an old mousemat and sticking pieces on with double-sided tape.

Ah that's not as simple, Strings and things would be your best bet or try EBMM by email direct they are much better than people would have you believe.

Can't be that hard surely? Just find the sharpest edged metal known to man, cut it to shape, drill a hole in it and bend it to fit, and VOILA instant thumb-slicing fun!

Musicman didnt used to be interested in this issue but as the Classic Rays are now available Im told the kit costs around £25 all in including springs,Pads and Thumb turns which isnt too bad IMO. My only point to note for some is that the thumb turns are not the same as the pre EB ones as they have a smaller diameter but certainly better than the none most pre EB's have and the chances of getting any originals is almost nil. What are they going on BW?

Looks like a real tidy job you've done there,
£25 sounds a good price to me, they are for my 1993 Stingray that has a bridge to accomodate mutes but no mutes,
Had the bass for 15 years or so and have been thinking about getting some fitted for a long time,

Thanks mate it finishes it off even if you dont use them although you can get some ace sounds with them wound out

I will be interested to hear how you get on as there is a lot of talk about where you can or cant get them but no one has ever come back with a solid answer or the actual mute kits.
