Hnz
May I suggest the Ampeg Micro VR + 2x SVT210 av? I'm guessing it has the sound you're looking for. The Micro VR's sound has depth and warmth and power. This weekend I gigged with it for the first time. Medium size venue with a small stage. • It takes up ample space • Vertical stacking enables to hear oneself better - and no need for crates, cases or such • It is very light and compact • Killer sound - gain on 11 or over 1 o'clock, depends if one needs a bit more grit • Enough headroom - for smaller venues like bars, pubs, and clubs and otherwise go over the PA Some pics of it in my office: Edited March 2, 2011 by Hnz
Flanker
GenzBenz Streamliner and Bergantino cabs( NV412 would be outrageous or 2x112s) I played one through a Berg AE212 yesterday and that can get nice and deep too. Otherwise Mesa Walkabout combo.
charic
Another RH450 and RS210 user here. Lovely and warm sounding and LOUD!!!
Prime_BASS
If you wanted the best compromise on lightweight, volume, sound Then I'd suggest a Barefaced Midget with a Markbass LM3 or 2. The markbass heads SS preamp is pretty warm and you can EQ out some high mid and treble to get a warmer sound, depends on your needs though. I have a similar setup, I think it's great. thodrik
Its not 'micro' amp lightweight, but for ability to give a really full, rich, 'valvey' sound the Mesa Walkabout is great. I love mine.
Einar
I would say Euphonic Audio's Wizzy cabs, uber light and killer tone
Hnz
"The best rig ever was a Mesa 400+ with a 2x15. However, I almost slipped a disc carrying the damn things, so I probably have to avoid pure valve amps."
If the Mesa tube sound is what you like, try the Mesa Walkabout; The most tubish hybrid basshead in the market and weighs just 6 kg. The 350 watts @ 4ohm are the loudest 350 watts I've ever heard. Much louder than f.i. Markbass.
JTUK
FWIW, I don't think the LMll is warm enough ..certainly not in the combo mode, ie with MB 2x10 speakers. Great combo but a more modern sterile sound. Needs a valve in the pre, IMV. sterile might be too strong, but a hard or harsh sound is about right. This might be right up some peoples street but, not the OP's, IIUIC.
Bankai
Ashdown Perfect 10 Mini-Rig. Simply amazing. Don't be expecting trace watts though!
