Bacchus Jazz Bass

Fantastic bass this, easily the best jazz I've ever owned. Am only selling as I don't really get on with having five strings, my hands are much more comfortable with four.

Pics and specs:

This used to belong to Ped and he's allowed me to use his pictures :)

Bacchus 02STRONG EXT-36 Jazz Bass
Completely hand made, two piece ash body, 3 piece maple neck with laminates, 36", 6 bolt tongue/groove joint.
Pearl binding around bidy/neck, MOP block inlays
18mm spacing at bridge
2 piece bridge piece
Bartolini BC soapbar pickups and NTMB pre-amp
Villex booster circuit
very nicely figuired fingerboard (Jacaranda) and top (flamed maple)
Fitted hard case

You can find more pictures here but just to make it clear, I don't have the bassmute or pickup cover that is in some of the pics. Oh and there are some sound samples knocking about somewhere too.

Sounds awesome, like a jazz but with balls! the pickup blend lets you dial in totally different sounds and I can even coax a musicmany/wal type sound out of it. It has a 36" scale which makes the bottom B nice and tight. It's also worth pointing out again that this has a Villex passive booster installed. Hard to describe what it does but the best I can do is to say that it just squeezes more tone out of the bass. There's plenty of reviews in the reviews forum here.

It's in excellent condition, the only damage I can see is a bit of buckle rash on the back as the wood is unfinished.

I'm located on the Wirral but can also be in Chester if that's any easier. Pickup/tryouts are welcome! Oh and if anyone would like it, I can provide them with my ebay feedback, which has 50+ sales, all 100% positive feedback.

Think thats it....

Chris,
Here are some sound samples of the bass:

Superb Jazz - don't be put off by the fact it is 36" - It feels every bit as comfortable as any 34" I have played, and everyone who played it did not even notice - I have played 35"s that felt noticeably 'longer'. It gives the bass extremely good feel and just makes you want to dig it all day!!

Cheers

Here is one with the Villex installed:

It is the black knob towards the output jack.

My review of the unit is here:

Yes I'd be inclined to agree. The only difference I can feel is the obvious one of having a fifth string!

Coupla q's...

What's the current state of play regards the pick-up cover - fitted or not? holes in scratchplate or not? - and also what I presume is a string muting type thingumeebob - fitted or not? If not, any sign of it's presence?

Oh and how does the scale length affect string choices?

Cheers.

Both the pickup cover and bassmute have been removed - both were affixed with car numberplate tape and have therefore left no residue/signs that they were there at all.

I think Eubassix has the pickup cover and the bassmute now.

Read the post again :)

It has a scratchplate, the bass looks exactly how it does in the first picture plus a black knob for the Villex. Ped used sticky pads to put the mute and pickup cover on I think, there's absolutely no indication that they were ever there.

Hope that helps.

RE: String choices - I always used Elixir strings on it and the only problem was I needed an extra long B string because it tapered just before the nut.

Most strings are 'extra long scale' as they are designed for thru-body stringing so you should be fine with pretty much every brand, but see if you can get an extended B (unless yours doesn't taper as early as Elixirs - Chris - might be good idea to measure the distance between the nut and the ball end for comparison to string types - IIRC Elites B string was fine, too)

Hope this is some help and I hope you don't mind me fielding one or two questions Chris!!
I remember admiring this when Ped had it up for sale, it looks (and sounds stunning) shame I'm now firmly anti-5's and Fender style basses :)
very nice bass , good luck for the sale !!
