aceuggy
I have been offered a black Fender Precision. It's a bitsa I think with the neck being made in Japan and a serial number K037444. The body I'm not sure about. It is a bit battered and has a serial number, I think 258837. It sounds lovely though the action is a little high. Anyone got any ideas what this is and what it might be worth?
lettsguitars
what are you willing to pay? would that serial make it korean?

The asking price is £330. Worth it?
gary mac
I recently paid £150-160 (can't recall exactly) for a Jap P bass neck. The one that I got was worth every penny. So if the neck is a good one, then do you think the body and hardware is worth say £180ish? What is the hardware like. Do the pups sound good. Lozz196
Jap necks are great, so I`d say if the whole bass is nicely weighted, and sounds good, grab it.
Musky
I didn't think Fender Japan bodies were serialised, just like US ones aren't. What you should find in the neck pocket is the model number, though if they're anything like Fender USA that might well be absent.
Cat Burrito
On the strength of what is written here I wouldn't be put off. A good set up and away you go!
nick
Could be worth checking that the truss rod isn't maxed out. There again that wouldn't necessarily put me off buying it.... Edited February 25, 2011 by nick
