jimbobothy Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Hi folks, just wondering if anyone knows how to date a Musicman Sabre? A friend of mine has one but can't find any serial no. or anything like that (he hasn't yet taken the neck of or anything like that). He thinks it is late 70's or so but can't be sure, any heads up? tomb Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 according to the internet the serial number is located on the bridge from 78 to 81, 81 to 84 the neck plate says MADE IN USA, when Ernie Ball bought it the MADE IN USA was deleted Quote

Ou7shined Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 1979-'84 Sabres had the serial on the bridge (6 digits prefixed with a "C") - most were standard top loading Sabre bridges but some "excess stock" Stingray bridges ("B" prefix) were used for through-body. If it has a patent number under the words "MusicMan" on the headstock it is pre '84. HTH Quote
