LuciferSam Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Hey guys, i just got a jazz bass with crappy pickups, so I want to replace them, any ideas which ones should i buy? Maybe some1 is selling any? Cheers Quote
lozbass Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 A lot depends on budget. I'd certainly recommend Wizard (UK built) or, if you're flush, it's worth thinking about Alleva Coppolo. If you go for the latter, it's also worth considering an Alleva outboard preamp unit - the pickups and preamp complement each other beautifully. Alleva is an expensive option but it's modular (great pickups first - with a fantastic passive tone - then a lovely, complementary preamp if you want one and when you have the cash). Also, keep the original pickups - you can re-install them if you decide to sell-on the bass and you'll have some lovely high-end p/ups to put in something else, should you wish to. Quote
Doddy Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Check out DiMarzio. Either the Model J,Ultra Jazz or Area J. They are all really good pickups and are are really good price too. I use the Ultra Jazz in my main Jazz Bass. They are really cool and dead quiet too,as they are a split humbucker. Quote
EBS_freak Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Been very impressed with Bare Knuckle. http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/main/p...p;series=j_bass Quote
