Stingray 5 Fretless Unlined

I've started a new for sale thread on this as the last was a bit confusing (started/shelved/restarted).

I've had this bass about 6 months, in that time its been out of the house three times, once for a rehearsal, once for a jam night and once for a setup/fretboard-fettle (it had some very very mild roundwound marks when I got it and I'm anal about fretless boards - I like em micron tolerance level!) trip to Jon Shukers place.

I find it nice to play in the house but once on stage I find the extra string just serves to confuse me and as I dont like to have basses lying around the house doing nothing this has to go and the price I've offered it at reflects that.

The bass is a 1998 model and is in excellent condition it all its trans-red goodness. There are no scratches or dings that I can find other than very mild swirlies (no belt marks on this one!) The board is clean and will take a nice low action.

So....£600 for a 9.5/10 Ray5 fretless in it's original Musicman HSC, add £25 for postage if you cant collect. This is the last price the previous thread had........it wont be going any lower than this.
Alternatively I'll consider a trade with a nice 4 string fretless, preferably something Fender/MM/Lakky/Sandberg shaped (in other words P or J!).

So some piccies: (taken on a great camera by a poor photographer)

Do Heaven 17 work there?
BUMP!
No Mart, but strangely enough I'm playing at the same venue as I saw them at last year next weekend.

Reminds me that I was a sad 80s 'new romantic' once :)
Hi.

Would you be interested in a trade for a Lightwave fretless bass?

Not what you mentioned, but also not what you would have thought about.

It is in the basses for sale listings. Please take a look. Something different and unique.

Cheers.
Agreed E, looks very interesting, don't think it's for me though. Can't even keep my i-thingies charged up for when I need them never mind a bass.

Cheers. Mart

It's lonely out here in 5 string Fretless 'for sale' land.

Still happy to consider a trade with money either way for a 4 string fretless. Will also consider trades for fretted 4 string Ray or MIA Jazz or P.
Why is this so cheap????

I'm astonished, truely. If it is 9.5 / 10 why is it still here!!!??

I'd have it if it was fretted, me and fretless do not go well. I'm keeping an eye on this!
Surprised myself to be honest PB. At £600 I'm taking a fair hit and I thought I'd got a good deal on it. Since I got it it's had a set up by Jon Shuker and a new WD scratch plate. Anyway in answer to your questions:

1. It is 9.5/10, the pictures are a good representation.
2. I'm assuming the Market for fretless 5 string is specialised and therefore low demand.

I guess if it had frets it would be more like £750 in this condition. Unfortunately if I had it fretted I would be ruining a perfectly good Ray :)

Good luck with the sale anyways.
Cheers PB,

you'll have to let me know when you're up in the Sheffield area on a gig, I'd love to see the Big Al in action when you get it!

Some interest shown but still here as we speak.

I think EBay beckons for the weekend once I've got the Sheffield/Rotherham Magna Real Ale Fest out of the way. :) Torn between using the Status and the Sue Ryder 'Sonic Sue' special for that one!

I never thought I'd see the day a 5 string 'ray wasn't moving at £600.

I'm half tempted to buy it, stick under the bed & sell it in a couple of years when (hopefully) the market has picked up. You would only need to get £650 for it in 2013 to get a better return than sticking the money in a building society.
