Noisyjon Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Hi All, I have been using the Behringer BX4500H amp at my local rehearsal rooms for ages now and must admit I think they've excellent 'bang-for-buck'. Was on the Behringer website looking at their bass amps and found this - 'The Nuke'. Look at the power of this beast! http://www.behringer.com/BT25000H/index.cfm?lang=eng This looks like a superb amp on paper and if it sounds like it's brothers then think this could be a winner! Can't wait for it to hit the shops and try one out. What do you think? Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 It does look good on the page, but I think that's 2,500 Marketing Watts - There's no indication of whether the stated power rating is at 8 Ohms, 4 Ohms or even 2 Ohms, neither does it say if its peak or RMS. Quote

The price is the sweetner - £430 RRP (inc. VAT) I'm thinking backup/spare amp here. Quote
paul, the Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I have no idea who their target market it when it comes to an amp like this... Quote

Anyway, as a confirmed cheapskate, I own one or two Behringer products and I have the BX3000 head, basically the same as the amp jonthebass is talking about, minus a testicle or two. It's basically an Ashdown MAG clone, right down to the sub-octave effect. It actually turns out that these were made in the same factory in China as the MAGs, with a lot of the same components. I suppose that's one of the advantages of making knock-offs of products which are manufactured outside the country... Anyway, I've had this for about 4 years, and it's a great sounding & versatile amp, and loud as f@ck, brilliant for the £120-odd I think it cost (can't remember!). It has developed a very intermittent cutting-out fault, but I'm pleased enough with it that I'll get it fixed, rather than consider replacing it. Jon. Quote
0175westwood29 Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 where are they on sale in the uk? want to try 1 out? Quote
LukeFRC Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 the cheap ones i can see the point off but the 430 one is daft. If you shop around you can get a good amp for that. My H&H Q600 cost me 450 new and you get the added bonus of having built in germany as well as designed there! Quote
tonybassplayer Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I have played about 70 gigs over the last two years with the Behringer BX4500H complete with matching 15 inch and 2 by 12 cab and pound for pound I think it is excellent value for money. I had a problem at first gig with the 15" cab, sent it straight back to GAK who had a replacement to me within 48 hours and had no problems since. I would like something lighter ( Mark Bass perhaps ) but other things taking priority at the moment All in all I have been very happy with it Quote
jakenewmanbass Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Not the same thing but I've got a pair of Behringer reference monitors. They are not the best on the market but sound really good for the money. Quote
budget bassist Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 I used to own a behringer ultrabass BX1200 combo, not the best sounding amp in the world, but as most of you have said, good value for money and actually more reliable than the chinese built ampeg i just bought. Quote
0175westwood29 Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 does anyone know anywhere in the southwest of england that i can try one of these? want to know prices aswell? Quote
