JontyP
Hello, Going by the name of JontyP. I'm originally from Lancashire, from Lancastrian/Irish/Yorkshire parents, but now live in t'yarkshire 'ills. Shhhhhh! Don't tell the neighbours, they haven't forgotten about the Wars of The Roses. Was seduced over the border by Timothy Taylor many years ago. I play acoustic and electric upright basses, also a good old Fender P, in two gigging trios. Preferences are original blues/jazz/rock, but happy to play other styles; except slap, 'cos I can't. Different bands require different kit; so, like many, I'm prone to the occasional attack of GAS (maybe that's down to Tim Taylor too?) in efforts to improve the quality of my sound - tone, headroom, tone, control & tone. Anyway enough for the moment; glad to be here. Cheers, JP
yorks5stringer
Hi JP and Welcome Where are you from in North Yorkshire? I'm a bit further sw near Shipley/Bradford. Timothy Taylor's is brewed just up the road to me in Keighley If I'm not mistaken? I'm in a trio too, playing "Heart Soul and Jazz." I've a Little Mark II, 2 LM cabs, a Variax 705 and a recently traded Ray Turner 5 String Electroline. However Gassing for another 5 String as you can tell from my posts elsewhere! Cheers Keith
JontyP
Mornin' Keith, I'm about half an hour north of Harrogate, 20 mins. sw of Ripon. Yes, TT's is from Keighley, cracking beer IMHO. Mr Bassman brought his Little Mark II when he came to look at my 4-string WAL; extraordinary little amp. Aren't trios are great for space? Thanks for the welcome. Cheers, JP
yorks5stringer
Yes, we can usually squeeze into small spaces especially as we have a HK Lucas PA. Speaking of which..... I don't know if this may be a bit far for you but if you fancy this it would be good to meet you http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12540
