wateroftyne Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011
I am currently chasing down a a markbass type amp for a backup/something different and if the scares about failures with this line is not an issue, I could want to seek this amp/marque out and add to the list.
Mine's fine so far (touch wood!). I don't think people would be too worried about this had it not been Ken Jung that had two flaky amps on the trot. Colossally bad luck, that. Quote
symcbass Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 If anyone gets a chance to try this head out with upright bass, let us know please. Looking for a new head that's smaller & lighter than my Iamp800 but still has the power, and this looks and sounds very interesting. Quote
alexclaber Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 This looks like it could be a perfect match with the Big Baby T that I'll be keeping for myself. Justifiable business expense, hmmm?... Quote

Musicman20 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I really want to try this with any 8x10 that's available! Quote
Musicman20 Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I notice the mids are nice and barky if necessary on the Jazz bass in the vid WoT. Still smooth though Quote
Raggy Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Sounds lush with that P Bass Michael Nice video. Quote

Enjoy!!!
Ooh-ooh, I want one! I also want one of those Carvin SB5000's as well!! I know they're a bit wonky looking, but from the clips I've seen they sound MONSTROUS!! Quote

Just had 20 minutes on it.. obviously it's too early to draw any conclusions, but it sounds glorious so far. The highs are lovely and rich, and I love that 220hz mid control. Two gigs this weekend, so it'll get a decent workout. I'll see how it compares to my RH450 and Promethean...
If funds would stretch to it, in other words if we weren't expecting our third nipper any time now, I'd love one of these and two of the Uber Quad cabs, but based on the advice I've had from yourself and others, I think the Promethean meets all my needs. LukeFRC Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 wow it sounds lovely! Having listened to most your youtube clips (they, along with k.jung helped me decide to get my Tecamp Puma) i have to say this is the first time the amp fits totally with your sound- brilliant Quote

Here's some more audio-only clips I did with a decent-ish recorder... I tried to drive the amp hard without upsetting the neighbours...! I don't know how useful these are, as they were done in a hurry, but I'll post them anyway. Apologies for the occasional clipping... wateroftyne Posted March 19, 2011 Author Posted March 19, 2011 Gigged this last night with my P... astonishing. The lows are so massive and solid, and the highs are rich and clear. And it just feels like it will never run out of steam... No-one else taking the plunge, then? I'm very lonely... Quote
Raggy Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Soon. Waiting for the genz 15" cabs to get over here. Then A/B them with my Berg NV. Quote

Linus27 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 I just bought a TC Classic 450 as a back up or even main to my Shuttle 6 but to be honest it sounds horrible despite being a beautiful amp and will be sending it back. So now I am not sure if I should get another Shuttle 6 or a Shuttle 9 or take the risk and get a Streamliner 6. My concern with the Streamliner is I really like the Shuttle 6 and worried the Streamliner will be different enough for me to not like it. Leaning more towards the Shuttle 9 at the moment. Quote
Musicman20 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 I have a feeling if you don't like the darker warmer TC, the Streamliner might not be your thing. I'd try the Shuttle 9.0 Quote
