wateroftyne Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) :hyper: Mark at Bass Direct is a legend... it got here double-quick from the first batch in Europe, I believe. Just had 20 minutes on it.. obviously it's too early to draw any conclusions, but it sounds glorious so far. The highs are lovely and rich, and I love that 220hz mid control. Two gigs this weekend, so it'll get a decent workout. I'll see how it compares to my RH450 and Promethean... Edited March 7, 2011 by wateroftyne Quote
Musicman20 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Did you opt for the small gig skins bag? That looks like a nice high quality amp. I only got mine or order the other day so might be a while yet. Quote
wateroftyne Posted March 1, 2011 Author Posted March 1, 2011 Cheers folks! [quote name='Musicman20' post='1146361' date='Mar 1 2011, 08:28 PM']Did you opt for the small gig skins bag? wateroftyne Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 I plunked around a bit more on this last night.. it sounds amazing through cans. If I switch the hi-gain on (my basses are passive), and crank the gain to the sweet spot where it just begins to fatten up before distortion, it's lovely. I can't wait to gig the bugger... Quote
ShergoldSnickers Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 The input stage sounds very interesting - 3 12AX7 valves. Hmmmmm.......... And it looks more than half decent as well. Be interested to hear how you get on with this little beauty. Quote
Merton Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Very interested to hear how this fares at a gig, sounds like a lovely little beast already Quote
Musicman20 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Ive no idea when mine will get here, but this is probably the first Genz amp that has really grabbed my attention. The concept of a LM3 on steroids with more power, more heft, and ability to have super super clean and sheen or grit is excellent, plus the mid control seems to be getting rave reviews. Quote
Flanker Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I played one today. Lovely! Looks, tone and quality. Quote
BassTool Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 900w into 4 ohms Sure it'll be loud enough? Looks superb, and gets some great reviews, congrats Quote

Truth is, unlike basses and cabs, I've always been flighty when it comes to amps. Who knows? This one could be the keeper... Quote
niceguyhomer Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Watching this thread closely, I feel a purchase coming on. Quote
voxpop Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 I really like the look of the 600 model. I need a light weight amp that will give me roughly the same warm sound I get from my vox 125 valve bass head. It's 30 years old and sounds wonderful but I just don't trust it at gigs, so I feel gas coming. I really do need to buy a backup.... Oh any excuse. Quote
Mcgiver69 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Well our mate Ed Friedland already reviewed one and it sounds absolutely great!! Enjoy!!! Quote
Musicman20 Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Found out mine isnt that long off....I expected a few months wait so a nice surprise. Quote
wateroftyne Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 I've just had the sauciest soundcheck ever. I need a lie down.. Quote
wateroftyne Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 Well, one has to take the 'honeymoon' into account, but this room is always boomy and indistinct. Roll the lows off, bump the 200hz mid, and I'm there, better than I have ever been... Quote
