Was having a bit of a clearout the other day and came across a Goodmans Audiom 90 bass 18" driver. It is 50 watts and 15 ohms and is currently housed in a homemade cabinet and works well. From what i have read, I believe they were used in old Vox cabinets (foundation or westminster?). I was thinking of moving it on but have no idea of it's worth. After doing a google search the only thing i can find is this:

German ebay has it for $599!!! Although it hasn't sold so may be not worth as much as that. Mine is exactly the same speaker as in the ebay photos.

I would love to know more about this speaker and an idea of it's value - if anyone has any info, or could point me in the right direction i would be very grateful

Thanks

Matt

I had the same with a couple of Audiom 12"s recently. Some daft prices being asked out there but in reality they don't go for a whole hill o' beans. I did check with a couple of traders, including one who is a friend of a friend and they both confirmed that they weren't worth a lot.

I sold the two for just over £50 but then I bought them in a nice looking retro cab two weeks earlier for £20 and still have the cab.

Many years ago I had a Selmer Goliath reflex cab with one of these drivers. (There was a 100W model as well.) No idea what yours is worth, but it's an absolute classic, and if anyone had a Goliath or similar with a blown speaker, I imagine they'd be very interested indeed.

Here's an original 50W Goliath, with pic of driver.

Here's a later 100W Goliath with an Audiom 100 driver.

Not that the cab pics help you - just me being nostalgic :)

Just noticed that the Selmer Goliath 50 cab in the linked picture used the Audiom 91, rather than the 90. Don't recall having had the back off mine to be able to tell you which it had. Not sure how the 91 differed from the Audiom 90, except cosmetically - same power rating and impedance.

Thanks for the info guys - interesting - theres not much on the 'net about these. Need to shift it on really as space is tight in the house.

I don't think i'm going to get $599 for it! But does anyone have any idea of a price for it? I have emailed a few vintage speaker companies i found on the net but have had no reply :)

Thanks

Matt
