Quoth'd Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 HELP! I'm being kidnapped this weekend and this is putting the dampers on my plans to raid the usual haunts in Nottingham for a new bass. Can anyone help me please. Are there any 'good' music shops in either Sheffield / Doncaster or Lincoln worth a visit Have not had much luck with Google so would appreciate any pointers. Thank you Quote
gareth1982 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 There's Electro Music on Copley Rd in Doncaster. It's a bit pricey if you ask me, but usually has one or 2 nice instrumens in as well as the usual standard lines. The shop has more of those 6 stringed thinly strung things (I think they are called 'guitars') than anything else, but the bass room is upstairs What are you after, just out of interest? Quote
Quoth'd Posted March 7, 2011 Author Posted March 7, 2011 Thanks to a aldude on here I have sold my Spector Euro and am on the look out for a 4-string replacement. I've been ghosting all the fender topics as I love the sound and want to get something because I love the sound and the feel of it rather than it's all that was in the shop - kinda thing. I really want to compare the Jazz and Precision to see which one does it for me the most (or if I love them both then which one to get first + Have always loved the SB colouring. Cheers Quote

skej21 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I don't know Doncaster very well, but this may be worth a shot; Music ground The address is on the contact page if you're interested Quote

aldude Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Hi mate Loving the Spector Euro! When I lived in Sheffield, I and the rest of the band used Electro Music in Doncaster - http://www.electromusic.co.uk/ Good chaps, looooads of stuff in there and usually willing to do a bit of a deal if you ask (well they were for the stuff I bought anyway). Stylon Pilson Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I'd add another vote for Electro Music in Doncaster. Lincoln had a couple of decent music shops, once upon a time, but I'd steer well clear of it now. S.P. Quote
chris_b Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I wouldn't look further than the BC For Sale forum. Quote
Musicman20 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Not so much choice nowadays in that area and the internet has basically took over! If you are buying new, buy with confidence from a bass specialist like the Bass Merchant. Electro used to be my prime shop until about 5 years ago, then I realised it was a little pricey. Quote
grayn Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 +1 on Electro Music. Always worth haggling, on the price. I think Wizard Guitars are on the same road, too. Good luck. On the bass front, why not try the MIM Fender Active P-Bass Deluxe. Precision body, Jazz neck, P & J pickups. Cool Quote
w... Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) I think that Wizard Guitars has closed its Doncaster shop but can be found at 303 Eccleshall road in Sheffield. There is also Wavelength Music at 165 London Road in Sheffield, but (there's always a but eh?) I'm usually dissappointed by the range there, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable though.
