gemdids
Ok, so I've got an Ibby jtkb300 and I'd like to jazz the frets up a bit. I'm after replacing the boring MOP fret dots with blocks similar to the ones on the Jaguar basses but my local guitar tech says that will cost almost the same as the bass! Has anyone done this before, and if so, could you give me some pointers? How easy is it to do? I've also seen this but it looks a bit too good to be true: http://www.inlaystickers.com/servlet/the-7...-Markers/Detail
rockpig
if you're looking to do it yourself you can get the materials from here, http://www.smallwonder-music.co.uk/ While inlaying the block shapes is fairly straight forward you'd probably want to do it with scrap materials a couple of times just for practice first. If you're planning on paying someone to do the work then unfortunately it is time consuming and will cost. Since it's an Ibanez the neck pocket will be fairly standardised so you could look for a replacement neck with block inlays, the advantage of this would be you can put the old neck on if you want to sell it later. mrjim
I've also seen this but it looks a bit too good to be true: http://www.inlaystickers.com/servlet/the-7...-Markers/Detail
I've used those exact ones that you linked to. 6 Months later they are still going strong, no wear or tear. Only thing is they are not quite as shiny/reflective as they look in the photo's. Plus they arrived from Japan in 3 days!
gemdids
Thanks for the smallwonder link rockpig, I've not come across that site yet, it looks pretty good. I was hovering over the 'buy' button for those fret stickers but I'm glad I didn't as I found this chap: www.paulcuthbertguitars.co.uk who has quoted me £60 to do the job, apparently it'll take about a week. I'll let you know how it turns out!
