mojobass
anyone heard of them/tried them?? they market them as 'hotter' than EMG's so was considering a set as theyre a fraction of the price of EMG's but dubious about brands ive not heard of!! if theyr ok i'm considering a set in my 'wick fortress (p/j) would they work with the MEC active circuit? my current stock MEC's are passive so any ppotential issues? Mr. Foxen
Hotness isn't really much of a consideration for bass, as most bass amps have an input gain/volume control. Plenty else to look out for in a pickup first. Boasts of hotness over anything else, much like in women, puts me off.
BigRedX
As Mr. Foxen says hotter is not necessarily better when it comes to bass pickups. And more so when it comes to basses with on-board pre-amps. That hotness that's designed to nicely overdrive the front end of your all-valve guitar amp isn't going to be so useful when it's overloading the solid-state electronics of the average 9V battery drive pre-amp.
