In my case, it turns out to bear an astonishing resemblance to $17,495.

As a child of the 80s, mine is likely to be considerably cheaper yet considerably more tasteless. :)

This would probably be typical:

although I'd happily jump this one's bones:

Or you could buy 200 Sue Ryders ...

Re: Clarky's Quest - The Movie, can I be played by Johnny Depp or the dude that played Aragorn (wearing a grey wig of course) then there might be a bit more action in the Clarky household :)

Just googled '1981 bass guitar', and this came upward being first released in 1981.

Do you think I should buy one?

I've never seen the only thing I'd completely bust the bank for - an Apr 64 Precision with a maple board. Not even sure such a thing exists...

Would I want any of them? Um .... mayb.... No.

Where's the picture of the lady with the 1956 P. Was it Carol Kaye?

Yeh, I wondered that too. If you were selling that bass, and you had that photograph, wouldn't you include it in your listing?

This. Sadly, it sold before I had the chance to persuade Mrs C what a great investment it might turn out to be...

Born in 1951 don't leave me much choice :) I won't get a January 51 neck date unless it's a prototype, so I'm happy with this:

Are you sure about that bridge cover?

1960. There's a couple of things I might be interested in from Mosrite and maybe an original shape Gibson EB0, but since everything I play these days requires 5-sting basses there's nothing from 1960 that I'd actually use.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it looks better the "wrong" way round. Got grief for that when I sold my 51 RI.

It's cruel that if you're born after 1980 you can get a birth year bass reasonably cheap, but can't justify it due to student debt, mortgage, family, while those of us who are past all that can't afford it because the good ones are so horribly expensive.

1981, thus revealing my relative youth!

It would have to be this, for me - rocky; pointy; laden with gadgetry I'll never understand - a bit like most of my life, to-date :)
