Haha I had some tins out the other day for a certain P bass project :) and tried the 51 bridge cover on upside-down because it naturally flows that way then put them back again as I could be arsed with the "you're not doing it right" backlash. :)
Are you sure about that bridge cover?

Mine is this way round:
I didn't realise my post would be so controversial. :) Rest assured the bridge cover on my tele style bass I own is the correct way around too but the original post was just to show a 1973 cool bass. Sadly I couldn't find one with a bridge cover the right way around & yet 3 examples with upside down covers. Must have still been coming down from the Psychedelic days! :)

Rest assured folks if I was the said owner I would simply unscrew the cover & flip it around to look like the one in Happy Jack's post  Move along people, there's nothing to see here...

Mine currently looks like this, I guess my age means this pile is about the amount required to secure an instrument with the correct date
....What basses were on the scene in 1946?....
You could buy an Audiovox bass fiddle made by Paul Tutmarc. They had been around for quite a time by 1946.
