danhkr Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Rarely see basses made in 1980 but these two are probably fairly typical of the time... Quote
Noisyjon Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I was born in 1976. Not a great time/period for Fender but I went onto G Base and typed in 1976 bass... In amongst the lists was this below. Sold! Quote

What a great year to have been born![/quote] Coincidentally, I own an 87 Thumb NT. However, being born in 1957, I had to wait for 30 years to get a really good bass. 1957 - the year that Fender redesigned the foul-looking Tele-based Precision to the most-copied-of-all-time P bass shape that everyone knows The year that Rickenbacker introduced the 4000 which I find unplayable Gibson had been producing the EB-1 for three years by this time and for some reason actually continued to do so for many more years. Clarky72 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 1972... unsurprisingly it has to be this... i still go weak at the knees at the sight of this beauty. Unlike Si, I don't have this or have it for sale. One day I will have it though. Quote

neepheid Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Although I've got no burning desire to own one, 1975 would really have to be a Gibson Ripper: Quote
