GSRs aren't the best basses but for the Money the RBX 374 and 375 are fantastic! Great quick 24 fret neck, comfertable to play look awesome! (To me!) and importantly sound good!
what about the SR 300?

Take a look at the sticky at the top of this forum and if you look Ibanezs take a look at the ICB 300EX, you can find them pretty cheap (I got one for under 300, about 280 with a hard case I think.)

I just has quick google search and they seem to be going for £400+ which is a bit steep as you could get somethging better for that much.

Look on forumusica.com, baixistas.com or miau.pt. You'll definitely find better (used) choices for less money than that.
been there, done that, nothing of interest, specially die to the price, some used items only cost like 5% less than buying new
There's a nice Ibanez SR405 for under €200 if you're feeling brave. Not only that, but a Washburn XB400 for €160. Both on Miau.

I reckon the market is slow on both forums, but if you keep your eyes peeled some nice things pop up.

If you spent the extra 150 or whatever on this you'd have a bass a lot better than those you're thinking of spending the 400 on i would of thought?
Secondhand proper style bridge ,better or matched pickups /a set-up etc.

Are you bothered about owning it because it's a copy?
As many will tell you here a lot of copies are often near to as good as or sometimes better than the real thing.

You've bought a bass that you've already been offered more than what you paid for it here.
Keep it and pimp it !
In years to come you'll be glad you did imo.

The Yamahas are nice, the RBX374 is a nice beast.

I saw you were considering an Ibanez SR300...

I've actually advertised an older SR400 (P/J rather than soapbar pickups, 3-band EQ, all black), in case you are interested:
SR400

It's a very nice bass... but with your budget, if you look second hand you will have a lot of options. I see lots of suggestions here, but in teh end only you can tell what feels right for you, so my advise would be not to rush and look until you find "the one" (you'll know it when it tells you so :))
bass has now returned to its previous owner and im happy with it. will i regret it in the long run? well, maybe, but for now i am at peace with myself finally
Do you know the outcome of your family friend taking the bass back to the shop and also how was he when you returned it?

We need closure!!!

he was pretty pissed and told me he had no idea, went on to say what was bought at the time, Vox head and cab, Pearl drums etc.
the owner of the store asked him for either take the bass there with the proof (spellcheck) of purchase or send email with alot of photos and the scan of the proof.
he told me he was going to search his basement for it but that he doubts he still has it

 • 2 months later...
So my Rickenbacker arrived and i started playing with it right away to get a feel from its neck and all that. feels great, its heavy but lighter than i was expecting.
as expected there are 2 pieces missing but that are nothing more than cosmetic i believe, then i started noticing stuff on it... ok its in mint condition but i never saw (not that ive seen many) a bridge like that on the Rickenbacker and then i started looking for its serial number and i cant find it anywhere...

is my Rick a fake? :)
NOT A RICKENBACKER SORRY, ITS ALL WRONG, THE BRIDGE AREA GIVES IT AWAY, ITS A BIT THICK LOOKING FOR A RICK, THE ACTION ON THAT A BASS IS MILES TOO HIGH THE NECK WILL BE BOWED FOR SURE , ALSO THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE NECK PICKUP AND THE SHOULDER ON THE BASS IS WRONG. HOPE YOU GET SORTED. CHEERS
