Jono Bolton
Anyone got one? How are they? I've found one, mint, £225 plus post. Good deal or not? It's an original one in green carpet.

They sound pretty good, quite low wattage handling by todays standard but they sound pretty good even against todays cabs. The downside? Have you tried lifting it? It is quite possibly one of the most heavy 4 10s ever made...
warwickhunt
If it's carpet covered it isn't one of the original ones... or do I have my TE models confused? I thought they were vinyl (with that red racing stripe), then carpet covered!
Jono Bolton
According to the seller its one of the original ones. It's carpet covered, with a red stripe across the front and then two ports on the front too
BassBod
I think the carpet came along later?? The early-mid 80's were all textured vinyl. The really early stuff was black paint. I'm finding it mildly depressing that I remember that sort of thing... BB
Merton
Carpet means '93 - '98ish. Built out of mdf instead of plywood, heavy as f*ck but sound amazing!

If it's 200 watt, it's one of the earlier versions. The later ones were 300 watt.

I think carpet maybe actually closer to '95-'99 instead of what I said before. Pretty sure they were the 320W jobbies with 4x 80W Trace-badged Celestion speakers. Chop
The earliest ones were definately black paint. Trust me I bought one new in about 81 Edited February 4, 2008 by Chop
Jono Bolton
Then the guy's lying, or stupid. Not getting it anyway I don't think, just thought I'd check it out.
Merton
Don't think he's lying, he's just using the wrong terminology. It's still an "original" Trace insofar as it's a Trace built thingy blob. But it's not an "original" as in a Series 1 job, it's the revised SMX series era. Buy the one mrsibs is selling on here instead, cheap as chips and "original"!!! Thornybank
The Sibs cab is a great deal! Smooth adn dark tonality adn "only" 200w hadnling, but it has a fat sound that carries.
