BobVbass
Hello I posted this a few days ago in lazy style so I thought I'd do a proper job this time - EA iamp 800. in excellent condition for sale or trade (I'm looking for a decent Ampeg or decent Tube amp) It gives a very clear, tight and warm sound, bringing out the true sound of your bass. It is a very powerful amp and will handle gigs of any size. It's Power output is : 500w @ 8ohms, 800w @ 4ohms and 1000w @ 2ohms. It has an excellent semi-parametric eq, which gives you many different tonal posibilities. It also has 4 EQ presetsand an effects loop. It has a a mini jack input where you can plug in and external signal and mix it with your bass signal. It also has a tuner output in case you prefer to use an external tuning unit. Operates at 110/220 v so its usable anywhere in the world. From the EA website: "The iAMP features an isolated, fully shielded transformer, gold plated input and output jacks*, both series and parallel effects loops, DI output, dual line voltage switch for both the US and Europe, onboard limiter, CD input and, of course, the unique EA tone shaping section. The result is a high performance, fully featured, small footprint rackmountable amp head that at under 20 pounds is comfortable powering speakers in a concert level environment. With an amazing efficiency rating of 85% the iAMP needs no cooling fan. Power when you demand it and silence when you don’t." voxpop
What kind of valve amp are you looking for ?
BobVbass
Something at least 400 watts I suppose - I'm open to ideas but it has to have enough welly to power my super twelve loud enough so I can hear over the others in the band. I guess a Mesa or a Laney Nexus with added money obviously would do the job Edited March 11, 2011 by bob_pickard
pete.young
At least 400 valve watts? You are Lemmy and ICM5P. I'll have this if my LMII sells.
BobVbass
Are valve watts different to FET watts then? I assumed it was a standard measurement....although my old guitarist used a 30 watt that seemed bloody loud!
voxpop
I use a 125 watt Vox V125b valve amp and its very loud, clean and will compete with a drummer with no problems. Wattage is a strange thing, Valve watts SEEM louder than solid state and you need four times the wattage to go twice as loud. For example.... if you take my 125 watt head and want something twice as loud you will need 500 watts. Best thing to do is get a very sensitive cab, something around 100db and run it with lowish power. Edited March 12, 2011 by voxpop
BobVbass
hmm it's weird isn't it - I normally go for the american approach - no substitute for cubic inches Edited March 15, 2011 by bob_pickard
