Muzz Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Hi Bad Back, if you've really got a bad back, I'd say the RH450 for no other reason Seriously, I think the RH450 can get very very very close to the Ampeg sound (I've had both, admittely a couple of decdes apart), tho only your ears will tell you for sure. It's also got stuff like a great compressor, onboard tuner, mp3 in, headphone out, 3 presets, etc, so if these things are useful to you, then it's something to consider. I'd still try and hear both, and through whichever cabs you're considering, too. It's fun finding out. Quote

Out of the 2 just chose the one you prefer, if its the sound, simplicity or just as silly as it looks. You know how you play, you know what you play......best chose the one you prefer. Quote

They both got things i like about them and i've heard them both but the only thing i'm not sure about is the power side of things.i read a few things about the ampeg being underpowered and just trying to find if theres anybody on here who plays similer types as me and have used these amps.i have the svt610 so would like to keep that and see what goes best. Musicman20 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Ive gigged both, and the RH450 totally hammers volume wise. I can understand people liking the Pro-3, but for me, the RH450 really does sit it another higher league. Quote
chris_b Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I've owned an SVT3 PRO and own a TC now and I'd happily use either, but if you've heard them and like both then get the TC, cos it's lighter or get the Ampeg cos it's cheaper. Quote
Lozz196 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Having had an SVT 3, and currently having a TC Classic 450 (same size & weight as RH450), at band volume, both amps were on 4 on volume, however I don`t now how much more headroom each had. The Ampeg is great, amazing tone, very versatile due to the 9 band graphic and 5-way mid selector, but its still quite heavy. My Classic however, is incredibly easy to carry about, sounds great, and has its own versatility due to the great Spectracomp & Tubetone. I`m an Ampeg lover, think they sound great (Fender & Ampeg = The Mutts), but when my band broke up, and I decided to sell some gear, I kept the TC because of how much easier it makes things. In terms of the Ampeg sound, in my opinion its 85/90% there, which is near enough, considering the easyness factor. Quote
