I've had a query about the age of my Jaydee Roadie - the only number I can find is on the headstock - 7160 - anybody know how this relates to it's age??

John went from a 0XXXX to a XXXXX based numbering system around the late 80s/early 90s.

I've never seen a bass with 10XXX though only 61XXX, 71XXX etc.

I've got a pre serial number supernatural session from 1980, the first white bass John made and Mark King had his now famous "Starchild "bass made after he saw it at Johns' moseley workshop.

Sadly I have to admit to christening it "Gandalph", but I was a very naive 19yr old at the time :)

Edit ; If you want to know anything about your JD then I suggest you ring John himself. I'm sure either he, or one of his sons will oblige, he's a lovely fellow.

The Jaydee website normally has a serial number section but its being updated at the moment and is offline.
