double bass size/string length

Does a string length of 102cm/40inch fall within a 3/4 size bass, seems most this size are stated as between 104-106cms as far as i can find out, am i correct in assuming that i can use normal 3/4 strings and will this mean that on my bass with a string length of 102cm there will be a little less tension than on the more normal lenght of 104/106cms, cheers, Jez

You will be fine with normal 3/4 strings jez. 102cm is not unusual.

You won't notice the difference in tension - less than 2%.
I've got an EUB with a 101 scale length and 4/4 nylon cores on, and even that doesn't feel particularly slack!
