Doctor J
Just having a browse on Ishibashi, there are some amazing looking basses which are domestic market only. There are some amazing looking instruments here, that pink Fujigen in particular is really doing it for me.

BigRedX
Ishibashi is probably my favourite guitar/bass site at the moment. It's a pity though that you've just hotlinked the images from their site - when the instruments are sold they'll be gone and then we'll never know what the thread was about... Moving on though, if you know what you want to look for rather than just browse with Japanese basses then Digimart is your next port of call. It's just a pity that on the whole the more interesting looking Japanese basses aren't generally available in 5-string versions.

The beauty of the u-box is that they'll send it to you if you want it. There were a couple of things I tried to get from digimart sellers but got the big no. Where's the fun GAS when you can't do anything to remedy it?

Plus I don't like the way these attachments display in the forum. What's wrong with using something like Photobucket? You can copy images directly from another site directly into your album without even needing to download them first. gafbass02
I've often asked about two or three different basses from ishibashi u box only to be told the neck is bowed. Wether it's climate or because they don't want to ship here I dont know. That said I have bought two brand new fenders off them with no problems (before the fender export ban) Edited March 13, 2011 by gafbass02
Jigster
so are they still selling for export?
BigRedX
Ishibashi tend to be over-pessimistic when describing basses, especially to overseas customers. I think they'd rather put you off buying something that you might find fault with when you received it than having the hassle of taking back an international shipment. Also the Japanese priide themselves on exceptional service and pointing out all the possible faults of an instrument is part of that service. When I was enquiring about a Tokai Talbo Bass, it turned out that when the instrument arrived at the webshop department from the actual store that had taken it in, there was a mark on the body from where a sticker had been removed (which had not been obvious in the original photographs). They took more photos for me showing this mark and eventually knocked a bit off the price. When the bass actually turned up the mark was barely visible under normal lighting. Ishibashi won't sell you a new MIJ Fender but anything in the Ubox is available although last time I enquired there was a minimum order value of ¥50,000 for international shipments.
