chilievans
My 8 year old daughter has started taking interset in my bass playing and wants to start learning. I think this is great and really want to teach her I'm not sure where to start. I have a spare bass which makes thing easier but where do we begin? Should we start with scales, simple songs or........? Any advice guys?
paul_5
Find out which band/song helped her to decide to pick it up, then teach her those lines (you'll probably have to simplify some stuff if she's into Primus though ), younger players (in my experience) really benefit from 'instant' results. Cheers, Paul.
Doddy
I'd send her to another teacher......she's more likely to listen to them than to you.
faiz0802
Jam with her for a while. Initial interest is very delicate, esp among kids. Reinforce that with support and company and she'll hold on to it for life. And once she shows consistency get her a teacher. Like in a few weeks. Get one now and might scare off. I tried teaching my kid brother 5 years ago. He ran away. Kids hate to practice, but they love to play. Yeah that and what these guys up here said.
