hi all,im new to playing bass,and would like to know what the difference is between a fender p bass,and a fender squire p bass.

and a huge wedge of cash...im a newbie too and at my level would opt for a cheaper Squier,i think sometimes people want the original purely because its a real P bass so must sound better,my ears havnt honed to spot the difference as yet.

I had a squier a while back, in fact its still upstairs yet, though the wife wants me to punt it on, but I normally use fenders, just that bit different and better, yes, a bit more pricey, but if you intend to keep it, go for fender.

Squier is Fender's licensed brand, made in the Far East, as opposed to being made in the US or Mexico. The Squier Affinity range offers great value for money, but the Classic Vibe or Vintage Mod Squiers are really good quality.
