Drum Loops

o.k., i'm finally getting round to using my pc to create tracks, and need to get hold of some good source material for drum loops.

problem is, there's so much stuff out there, i don't know where to start.

i'm mainly looking for hip-hop, breakbeats, electro, and d'n'b loops, but a few classic led-zep type monsters too.

anyone got any current favourite cd's/downloads to recommend ? (nothing too expensive please).

thanks. :)

This one is Alright and free.

Just click on the title of the loop and a pop up box will appear for download
Not just Drum loops, there is also one hits and other instrument loops and patches.
Midi files and some free VST's, plus a whole load of other stuff to help you along.

I think they are Acid loops, so they should just stretch to the tempo you are using.

There will be plenty of other sites, but this one is a good place to start....Enjoy.

I love these by this killing Dutch drummer KJ Sawka - they are all high quality WAVs and work for any DAW - all played live and great for all kinds of grooves in a D'n'B stylee

They really are good!

i'm a total noob at this, so progress is slow, but hey..

thanks all.. :)

edit: ooh that KJ Sawka stuff sounds good.

Pretty much all the best sources for drum loops have already been listed... but any Google search will bring up literally thousands/millions of possibilities to choose from! (which can be quite daunting in fact...).

A few other tips:

- Buy a copy of 'Computer Music' magazine (£6ish; made by the same publisher who runs the Music Radar website). It includes a cover disc that is normally jam-packed with drum loops and other samples - plus a bundle of useful software for playing them on.

- Try making drum loops yourself! Seriously... it's actually a fun thing to do and personally speaking taught me a whole bunch of useful stuff about rhythm, which in turn has helped my bass playing. Again, there's loads of freeware available for doing this at no cost. Have a Google...

that's what i'm up to at the moment. i've written some storming electro beats already (well , i think so, anyway ! :) )

thanks for all the advice guys, you're all saving me a lot of time filtering wheat from chaff.
Watch out for MusicTech magazine in Smiths every three or four months the WHS copies include (or they used to anyway) aDVD of all the loops & samples from the previous few months.
Future Music is also worth buying as every month they have a free DVD with the issue that usually contains hundreds of royalty free drum loops of all varieties - plus a bunch of very useful lessons for Cubase, Logic, Ableton etc - it's a good mag as well for tech reviews and a lot of tips for home recording/producing - the interviews and features tend to be geared toward the dance music side of things but there's plenty of other cool features in there as well.

Just thought I'd mention it
