This guy built this bass because his wrists began to hurt after playing in two bands and five hours a week,so he built an upright.
I wonder how thats better on your wrists?

Play pretty much any bass and you'll be holding your left hand at a funny angle, twisting the wrist to the left. His design seems to mean that your wrist is relaxed, in the same position as - for example - holding onto an upright pole like a bus-stop.

The other point is that his design means that your shoulder is carrying no weight at all, no bad thing at my age. Rather restricts your mobility, mind ...

Ugly. And if you really wanted an upright bass guitar (apologies to those who are offended by the "g" word - you think of a more apt one) why not just put a really long spike where your bottom strap button would be? Or perch it on a barstool? :)

Or, indeed, screw it to a cymbal stand. Or get a Dean Pace (6" fingerboard radius my arse) and get it fretted.
