Decisions, decisions... Help!!!!

Have been offered two very different G&L JB-2's, which seem excellent alternatives to Fender Jazz's.

The first is a hollow-body

and the second is standard body with a great metallic blue finish complete with Nordstrand pick-ups

Can only afford one and leaning towards the solid-body even though the hollow would be more sought after I think

Both cost the same...

Any advice?

I'd find the cash to buy both, swap the pups and keep the hollow body/nordstrand bass, then flog the other one.

They are both USA not tributes and aren't cheap so I can only get one, head says red one, heart says blue one!

Got to disagree with popular opinion - I think the blue one looks a bit naff and unless you're in a glam rock band or something you might be sick of it after a while!

OTOH the red one looks classy, and I prefer the darker fingerboard - plus you don't see many hollow bodies out there (well I don't!). Get that one.

The fact of the matter is Red will sound like a G&L (which is the whole point) while Blue will sound nice (probably very nice) but not like a G&L.
And if you think you'll be able to just pick up a set of those G&L pups to return it to it's former glory, think again.

Yes but the G&L's PUPs aren't shielded and are prone to hum, hence why the Nord's are a common upgrade!

Pity you cant the the Blue with nordys and in semi-hollow config.

Blue! I'm not a fan of semi acoustic basses, the sparkle is mental and it will sound better IMO of course

PLUS that birdseye is lovely...

The more i look at the red one the more i think that basses with F-holes should always have natural finishes. If that one ever belonged to me you'd have to lock away the sandpaper!
