Right, so I got my lovely new fretless :-) but it has roundwounds on it. :-( Having tried TI Flats and Fender 9050s on other basses, I think it's time I gave Chromes a try.

But for a "standard" 34" scale, do I need "medium" or "long" scale? The D'Addario website gives lots of info about tensions but I couldn't see info about scale (possibly due to blindness, stupidity or both).

Help!?

You'll need D'Addario Long Scale for a standard 34" - most of my basses are 34" scale and I've been using D'Addario long scale strings for several years. Just to double check though, what bass are you putting them on?

Short scale strings are generally for 30" scale.
Medium scale - 30.5-32.
Long scale 32-34. (these are what you'd expect to put on a standard scale 34" bass)
Extra long 33.5-36

Thanks for the fast response - so they're ECB81, EBC82 etc - the ones without a letter (S, M, SL) at the end.
