Nice collection mate. But you know it needs a passive V5 or a Vintera Jazz to finish the collection.

And it just so happens....:D

My humble jazz, a cheap B-stock Squier Affinity in Charcoal Frost Metallic. Haven’t got the blingy chrome covers for it yet but I will. Nobody will ever accuse me of having good taste 😂

My bitsa Jazz. Inspired by an Alpher cobra (?) bass I saw on Pinterest I bought a body with pickups off ebay and modded it with deeper horn cutouts and more body contouring (which you can't really see in this pic). Neck is an old Tanglewood I managed to get for £25! I also made a new scratch plate from Ash vineer, with a slightly different design, and used tung oil to finish. Black stain from Crimson Guitars to show the grain. The photos not great so doesn't really show it.

Was more of a trial run really. When funds permit I'll get a better body and neck and re-do it. But this plays nice.

I also have a Squire 70s CV, but that's more normal to post.

Here's my 1973 Fender Jazz. My first proper instrument bought in 1983 and it was mint. It's done every gig I've ever played. The finish cracked badly after I left it in a tour bus overnight in Finland at minus 20.

It's been re-fretted 3 times and had to have new pickups after the originals died. They are now Lollars. Apart from that it's all original!

I still have the chrome covers but lost the pick guard and case somewhere along the way.

My recently acquired Maya

As bought

Just finished tonight updating the tuners and adding a scratch plate. Was contemplating doing a respray, but it's just wrong to remove nearly 50 years of paint!!

Now

Squier Wem

Since April, it's all been about the Status but this Squier Jazz never fails to impress. ❤️

Thanks to Bunion for the heads up.

New knobs on the Celinder today

IMG_3182.jpeg

Oh my. Seeing a Celinder always makes me yearn for my former bass (I had the 1998 Skarbee J Update). The 70s sound and me never became friends (and probably never will) but that neck... I think I never played a better neck. Except a Stenback perhaps. But I hope I can find a Classic or Vintage Celinder someday for a decent price. There's one on Reverb in the USA for €4000...I bought mine back then for half that.

EDIT: I read that Thomas Skarbee bought this very bass back a few years ago. That makes me happy.
