That looks great! The Affinity series have improved massively in quality over the last few years so I'm sure you'll have an excellent time playing that.

My 15 year-old son already plays guitar, so he's had the first go (seeing as I am going to be learning from scratch). He likes it a lot, sounds good through the Eden Orbiter 10 amp I got with it. 😀

My very first bass arrived today: Squier Affinity Jazz Bass in charcoal metallic grey. Now the journey begins.. I am 50, it's definitely NOT a midlife crisis. 😁PXL_20241022_1258312502.thumb.jpg.db101ed8805748a098ec3b977b5eb9d8.jpg

I've got one of those too, they're great basses for the money. Used it on studio sessions plenty of times and it always does the job 👍 Welcome to the club!

That's a lovely looking example - I haven't owned a 'real' Fender for years as my 3 Squiers (including a 2007 Affinity model) do everything I need. I don't think you could have picked a better instrument for your journey.. 😃

2004 MIM Jazz Standard.

I Saved as a teenager for this, my first ‘proper’ bass.

No matter what else I play, this one always feels like home.

I had one of these!!! By the time I'd finished with it the only original parts remaining were the body and neck. It was really beaten up, I'd even used wood filler in places... But it sounded fantastic!! The colour is great too.

Yeah in honesty I only use it at home now but if I was to start using it live again I’d replace the pups as they don’t have much growl.

The bridge was replaced in about 2008 as the old one was ripping my hand to bits.

But, the neck is superb and I’ve had many comments that it’s nicer than a lot of American Fenders much more experienced players have played. Although I’m not sure that’s saying much these days 😂

I had Bartolinis in mine, sounded great. In very hot summers the neck moved a lot though and I ended up trading it in when buying a brand new Stingray.
