This is probably the one that appeared :)
They're so, so rare and crazy difficult to get hold of... I'm loving it so far :)

I guessed it might be. If you ever change your mind let me know :)

An Adam Clayton Jazz in Sherwood Green Metallic. It plays great.

I love the colour but I wish they had bound the neck

My old Fender Jazz Bass '78, original from neck up with the exception of refret and new saddle...

The original body is led heavy and literally broke my back...

The new beautiful body is made by luthier Tommy Bizzotto here in Sweden. (www.bizzotto.se)

The body is made of ash and "heavily chambered". The top is flamed Swedish birch. Some customisations: a nice cutout on the back of the lower horn allowing easy access to all frets.
The belly cut is made more... mature for a mature player...

Why mess up an original bass? Well, an original bass that is unplayed is no good to anyone. Due to its weight (8,5 kg!!!&!) it was retired. Then I met Maestro Bizzotto who promised to make a miracle.
The bass is still on the heavier side, but now completely managable. What about the tone, then? Of course it changed, but a silent bass that never is allowed to sing its heart out has no sound at all.
Now the tone is a bit more P-bass-ish but still with the bite associated to the late 70's Jazz basses.

I've owned this bass since '82 and now it is in my fleet again...

8.5kg! Do you still have the rest of it?

Yep! In a closet! I pick it out sometimes to frighten my friends. If you look under the thread with modified basses you'll find pictures of the original body. To be fair, it wasn't just the body that was heavy on this "monstrosity"; you could club an ox with the neck without that much effort. Then it had Badass bridge and three pups and solid metal knobs adding to that. Anyway, the neck have NO dead notes whatsoever due to that fact.
Happy new year, btw! :)

Here's my latest Jazz, another '61;

[/quote] That's a nice bass for sure! I've always wanted a bass like that but with five strings; now I am a bit closer to that. I got this one on the way home now - not a Fender, but you recognise the "origins"...

Here's my modded CIJ Geddy Lee Jazz bass. Mods are:-

- Entwistle Neo pickups
- Hipshot HB2 tuners
- High quality capacitor
- Alchemy amalgamation symbol
- Geddy Lee holographic neck plate (a bugger to photograph!)
- Fender straplocks

Now it rocks!!

Pictured with my only other bass.
