emilk
Hi guys, Has anyone any idea what this bass is. It's probably a japanese jazz bass copy. I don't know when or where it has been manufactured.
Bassassin
Very nice-looking Jazz, unfortunately the VP logo isn't ringing any bells for me. As a first impression I'd doubt it was MIJ, mostly because this is too recent to be a 70s-era copy, and because most Japanese brands (apart from a few exceptions like Fernandes & Tokai) moved away from making copies from around the end of the 70s. It's possible the hardware & electronics may offer some clues to its origin, but with any luck someone here will recognise the neckplate logo. Jon. Jean-Luc Pickguard
Perhaps a bitzer someone put together?
Truckstop
Hmmm, I reckon the neck plate's a custom. Why bother getting the neck plate engraved but not get a transfer for the head stock? I don't think I've noticed that before. Truckstop

el borracho
Doubt it's Japanese - VP are sub £100 far east copies. Can't see a jazz but here's a 6 string on amazon:- vp guitar

emilk
I don't think it's a bitzer. Very nice bass though, except for the pickups. I've ordered some Seymour Duncan quarterpounders to replace them. It came in a collective trade with some other basses which I already sold. It costed me no more but € 25,- and considering the the splendid state of this bass it's worth spending some extra for better electronics. J.
The only id on the bass is the logo on the neck plate which is the same as the VP logo inside the soundhole of this VP acoustic Maybe the plate is the only bit from a VP but it's all there is to go on in the pictures. Got to admit it does look rather nice though.
el borracho
Just saw that it was only €25 - can't really argue with that If it plays ok and just needs better pickups you got yourself a bit of a bargain.
Ou7shined
A quick squint at the neck pocket and heel might shed some light.
