Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the stolen list from the infamous Italian theft in 2006 which certain Northern UK vintage dealers are going to court for in about a month's time? Allegedly having previously stayed at the collector's villa at his invitation and then used their inside knowledge to organise the heist?

From 2006:

We really should be careful not to prejudice the defendants' right to a fair trial. :)

The Music Ground operation might be a byword for beady-eyed artfulness, slack disinterested arrogant salesmen and scrotum-popping prices. Whether they are sticky-fingered thieves or greedy, scumbag receivers who deserve to be passed round the inmates like a bag of sweeties is - however - a matter for the jury.

OTOH an angry mob will do fine. Why should juries have all the fun?
Can someone tell me if I have the basic jist right.

Someone goes to somebodies house who owns a collection of Vintage guitars.

Somebodies house gets broken into and guitars nicked.

The nicked guitars turn up in someones shop for sale.
Not so much all turned up in one guitar shop...the 'characters' we're talking about owned a whole chain of (in-famous) guitar shops in the UK (& still do own shops - together with a very famous amp brand) & were (in fact still are!) very big players in the global vintage instrument trade & therefore perfectly positioned to make a large number of expensive vintage guitars 'disappear' into the market place...

No big problem for people like this - who have also specialised in faking vintage amps & instruments for many years - to alter serial numbers & other details...
And when you are well established international vintage guitar dealers - there's all sorts of people on the other side of the world you can sell them to...
