I'm surprised I hadn't put any pictures in before now.

Here's my gold Warmoth '54 Single coil P bass.

It has a mahogany body, wenge neck & ebony fretboard. Gold Schaller machineheads, Gotoh 201 gold bridge, gold frets, gold Schaller straplocks, SD quarter pounder, CTS 500k pots and paper in oil cap. And normally gold Optima strings, although the Rotosounds on it just noe are beginning to grow on me.

Body is finished in the sparkliest of gold finishes.

Like with any custom bass, I took a big risk since if it failed to deliver, it would be worth 3 pound peanut. I have to say that it is without a doubt, the best bass I have ever played ever.

Although I didn't make the body or neck, I did put it all together and set it all up to my liking.

Everyone is posting pictures of thier customs so I thought I'd stick a couple of mine up......

these are Mikey Reed customs. Totally Unique "one of one's!"

The 5 string. Fretted

Body- Wallnut
Neck- maple
Fretboard- rosewood
frets- 24
Pickups- custom built by the builder

design- yours truely
built by Howard, from the bass place in nun street Newcastle.

The 4 string. was fretted now fretless

body- tulipwood
neck- Maple
Fretboard- Rosewood
Frets- 24
Pickups- custom made by the builder

defretted by KGB Pacific Road, Birkenhead

design- yours truely
built by howard from the bass place in nun street Newcastle.

a lot of people ask me why tulipwood body- i was a lot scrawnier back then (in the days!!!!!) and I found something the weight of a fender really uncomfortable! this one you can balence on one finger............ you can wear it all night and it weighs nothing hardly! its gorgeous!

what you think?

I'm Howard the Bass Doc - built your two custom jobs. I don't have the shop anymore but I'm still active at the home workshop. You can PM me via the forum any time.

All the best.
Aha! I see the connection ... Did all the nuns get basses from you?

That's not all the nuns got from me - Sister Raquel and Sister Siobhan were very accomodating on their days off. Some very strange habits. They were not good payers however which gave rise to the saying 'as tight as a nun's knicker-leg'.
Looks superb.

What are the controls on there. I bet you've had a great time becoming accustomed to the new bass.
Thank you Tom does great work

Volume push/pull active/ passive
Blend
Passive tone
Treble
Mid push/pull Freq
Bass

and yes she is a little heavy, Tom (Clement) says 9.5 lbs or so. But it feels no heavier than my 55-01

First bass built for me buy the guys of Cobelens & de Bruyne, of whom I am an endorser:

Maple body, merbau top, maple neck, rosewood fretboard, Seymour Duncan Basslines soapbars, Aguilar OBP-3, Wilkinson tuners, ABM bridge.

Because I'm not 100% satisfied, so they're building a new bass for me that's smaller, lighter and has nicer wood:

Same pickups, preamp and hardware, but it has a downsized body made out of ash with wengé laminates, spalted birch top, maple/wengé/greenheart neck, ebony fretboard.
