ThomBassmonkey Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 As title really, I fancy swapping out my plain white scratchplate on my Sandberg JJ5 and wondered where they're available. Thanks! Quote
Machines Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I would have thought direct from Sandberg would be your best option ? If you want a custom one made try Aurora Project or WD Music. Quote
ThomBassmonkey Posted March 20, 2011 Author Posted March 20, 2011 I don't fancy a plain one, sorry, should've said that. Don't know what I do want yet though (maybe a clear one and do my own design) but I want something a little fancy since it's a plain old Jazz bass. The link for the Aurora one doesn't seem to work. Thanks for the WD one though! Quote
Machines Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Link fixed. Those websites do custom ones too . Quote
ThomBassmonkey Posted March 20, 2011 Author Posted March 20, 2011 Oops, the Aurora one didn't work and the WD linked to the Aurora. Sorry mate. There are some nice designs on it though! I like the Sun one. Quote
tommorichards Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I got a custom scratchplate from aurora. It was good, but the material they used was weird, like made in layers, and it wasnt the best fit, although i did send them the body instead of an actual design. Works though. It was this scratchplate Quote
tom1946 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Speak to Bassdoc on here, he makes scratchplates, he does all mine and very reasonable too. Quote
BottomE Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011
This is from WD but it wasn't cheap
when you say wasn't cheap what kind of ballpark you in? Quote
JTUK Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I went to Sims and WD. WD didn't do custom and the Tort print wasn't that great to my eyes although it was cheap. Sims was great but cost more money..they just used my old one as template and it really sets the bass off now. So, I would say, if it is for the right look I'd go for Sims over WD, IME. Quote

JTUK Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Depending on the quality of the print/pattern but Sims was around double that but best to call them. Mine were custom plates and I had two done for about £125 IIRC. Quote

ezbass Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I just had Aurora make me a clear one and a pearloid one for my Sandberg Basic PM4, good price, good product and really quick turnaround. Quote
Jerry_B Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Aurora made a few for me awhile bacj and they were poor or bloody awful quality. E-mails to them about a refund for the latter go unanswered too Quote
ThomBassmonkey Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 Thanks for the advice, I'll have to look into it. I might go the route of a clear scratchplate with a printed design behind it. Quote
