Hot Tub Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 (edited) He's a bit good! A mate recently "challenged" me to learn New Born, which I've now done - just needs a bit of polishing! In researching the song, and having the attention span of a gnat, I got sidetracked to a lot of other Muse tracks. Have to say, I really like most of it and CW comes across as a VERY good bassist, and a rather pleasant unassuming bloke! Edited March 20, 2011 by Hot Tub Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Can I be the first to mention his Bobbing head? It always comes up in a Chris woltenmasnetheining Thread He is good though, Not sure about the Staus either, Pedulla FTW IMO. Quote
tommorichards Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 So does the "mouth breather" statement. I like him. He does some good stuff. Quote
cocco Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Chris is great! The resistance has a great bass line, but so do most muse tracks. Quote
MuckedUpFunkies Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I've seen muse twice and both times performances have been absolutely spotless. IMO one of the best live bands still gigging today =) Quote
Hot Tub Posted March 20, 2011 Author Posted March 20, 2011 Definitely on my list of bands I'd like to see. Quote
Quoth'd Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Thanks to CW, I'm constantly amazed with the different sounds he manages to produce & has driven me to experimenting with lots of 2 & 3 channel setups along with the compelling need to track down more pedals. He's cost me a fortune Quote
Randy_Marsh Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Love CW and his playing. Hysteria has a great bass part as do a load of Muse tracks. Guys got a crazy amount of stamina too Quote

arthurhenry Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 He plays Hysteria in a weird position, don't you think - all around the 12th fret, seems almost a beginnerish way of doing it. I much prefer to play it around the middle of the neck, down to the 2nd fret on the descending part. Quote

I do this when playing James Brown's Cold Sweat. You get a different tone and tension going on.... nothing 'beginner-ish' about it at all.. Quote

I was lucky enough to not only see them, and not only see them in Vegas, but see them in Vegas on my birthday. Good times. Love his playing. Quote

coasterbass Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Love Muse and Chris' bassparts always work well. In terms of playing them myself its not the speed/notes he plays but the sheer stamina of the guy that amazes me!! Quote

crez5150 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Saw them at Montreaux Jazz........ Watched from the Monitor Desk position and was blown away by how great they sounded. Also saw them at Eden Sessions and again was totally blown away. Quote

mrtcat Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I find the show they put on great as is their music, imagination and use of effects. The singing does however get slap bang on my tits after a few songs. Quote
Austin7 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 "Absolution" and "The Resistance" are the two best albums in the last 20 years, IMO. The "Black Holes and Revelations" album isn't far behind. Quote
HMX Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I think Origin of Symmetry was their best album and nothing else has come too close. New one is decent but Black Holes, IMO, was a bit meh. Quote
risingson Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I won't listen to Muse out of choice really but you've got to admire them for having some great music and putting on an excellent live show. Some people complain that there isn't enough talent in music, but Matt Bellamy can definitely play and write. As for Wolstenholme, the guy has some serious stamina and one of the most recognisable bass lines in recent history under his belt... I bet he's laughing all the way to the bank, and rightly so.
