Great Price for this, looks like a Ltd Edition but can't mach it up to one perhaps a custom , Defo not a Vampyre NT though !

That's the rare "Streamette". Like a Corvette in shape, but instead of the usual slab body they're contoured like a Streamer.

Nobody seems to quite know the history of these things: there's a story that Warwick made some neck-through Corvettes with contours and then cut the necks off, but this story is generally discredited - firstly because the strip is too narrow for this and secondly because why would they cut necks off perfectly good basses?

The Warwick serial number tool always says that these are Vampyres - which just shows the limitations of an automatic look-up tool, even if it is officially endorsed by the manufacturer. Even German companies fail to keep complete records of their productions!

It looks like a pretty good price.

How come I go away from the PC for 5 days and stuff like this goes by! :)

Had one of these and has been said it's often referred to as a 'Streamette' and as Mart stated they are not as urban myth would have you believe, the earlier 91 Ltd Ed 'Infinettes' with the necks chopped off (among other things for the reasons that Mart outlined). The numbers of this bass vary depending upon who you listen to (if it is a seller you are listening to there are only 20 in the world... :) ) but seeing as how I've owned 2 and seen a dozen or more for sale I don't think that there are as few as people say!

There was a recent thread on the Warwick forum trying to establish how many there were. A clever chap pointed out that since these show up as Vampyres in the online serial number tool, any other serial numbers from that period that come up as Vampyres on the online tool are probably also Streamettes. Some fool* then spent some time typing in numbers and found that there were at least 60. :)

Btw, there's another Streamette on ebay.com atm:

Just found this link to clear up any confusion from Hans himself
Dear Mr. Nicholas S,

thanks for your mail and sorry for the late answer but I just arrived
on a business travel in China and didn`t received your mail.

- Corvette Bolt on
well, this is a special story because this model wasn`t officially a
special edition as we would call it by today. The row Body´s are coming
from a special production we never launched official in the market and
during a visit from our former US Distributor Dana B Good he found the
body`s sitting on our stock and fell in love to it.
So in a certain case it was once of our first special edition but
with a custom Shop Corvette Body which was in a convex styling like the
Streamer Bass.
The Name was maybe given from our US Distributor, but wasn`t officially called
like that from our side.

In total we produced from this Instrument around 70 or 80 pcs. at all
and only for the US market.

The specs are as following :

Bass Corvette Special 91 Edition
with a convex curved Body Design
Serial Number C 082722 01
Year 2001
Month March
Number 082722
Neck Wood Ovangkol Wood
Fingerboard Ebony Fingerboard
Frets Bronce Warwick Frets
Nut Just a Nut II
Neck construction Bolt On
Body Top
2 pcs. Bird Eyed Maple with a Strip of Bubinga in the middle position
Backside, 3 pcs. Bubinga solid
Surface Oil Finish
Pickups MEC PP Active Pickups
Electronic 2 Band Active MEC Electronic
Hardware Warwick Gold Hardware

So, this is the story behind the Bass, it is existing only in the USA and a very rare
model and we are very glad that you such in love with your instrument.

With best regards

No disrespect to HPW but I've learned to take 'the gospel according to official Warwick sources' with a pinch of salt! :)

You'd be amazed how many times people quote official Warwick responses (inc those from HPW) and they have glaring omissions/inaccuracies. In fact if your response is cut and paste from HPW, there's a humongous one (or more) staring you in the face in that statement! :)
