Gutted. :)
Pffft

What's going on?????

You've actually got a subscription copy before I got mine from the local shop? That hasn't happened for a while.

I received mine today. Nice to see so many great basses in there though - I figured the Ampeg AUB1 would make it but also the Burns Bison and Gretsch feature. I'm sure the order will have everyone arguing forever and a day!

Away from the 65, that Hagstrom Viking looks a bit good :)

:) Must be a pilot scheme! Normal business will resume next month...or possibly the month after :)

I have to say it was a bit thin on content this month although there were some reviews of Bag End and the Zon Standard Series.

FWIW my Bass isn't on the list either, there again I made it myself, so why should it be?

Got mine today but not read it yet.

I dont like the smell of it these days, it makes my bad headaches even worse, so I leave it to air for a while in the garage. I think it's the ink they use :)

Tokai Rockinbetter, Sue Ryder P-bass and Eastwood Magnum were numbers 1, 2 and 3. Fender P came 48th and the Jazz didn't make the top 65.

I was gutted that the MusicMan Bongo wasn't in there. Oh well, there's no pleasing everyone.

That issue is very thin. I got mine today and I was thinking that the Screwfix circular I receive in the post has more pages.

That was a (bad) joke. However, how BGM choose a Rick 4001/3 as the number 1 bass is beyond me. I like them but they are very marmite and have obviously not had the imapct on the bass playing world of Precisions (voted #4), Jazzes (#2) or Stingrays (#3)

Shocked!

Controversial things these lists...

...and, to be honest, so personally subjective as to be worthless for anything other than to create disagreement.
It must be a slow news month.

And if I was compiling the list, I wouldn't have put a Rick in the top 650.

Couldn't believe there wasn't a Stagg in the top 65 either.

I suspect the list was something they thought of in the pub and as they got a bit worse for wear all agreed they'd put the Ricky in at No 1, then sit back and wait for the comments.

There's no such thing as bad publicity...erm, just like this thread!

Lists are just something to cobble together when you have nothing better to put in the magazine. Next month they could have a list of the top 250 left handed, sunburst basses, and the month after the top 50 microphone stands. Its just a man sat at a desk trying to think of something to do, and at the end of the day its only his opinion. Mine wouldnt be remotely close to his, so look forward to a new feature, 65 top basses every month as chosen by absolute nobodies whose opinion is just as valid as the next mans.

Oh, and the magazine, which I have subscribed to since the very first edition, would be quite low in my list of the top 65 magazines I read or subscribe to, and I hate saying that as I really used to enjoy it.

I suspect they used the voting system the Lib Dems are currently proposing

Have to say that I was annoyed by the reference/picture of the "Aria Pro II".

The blurb referred to John Taylor and Cliff Burton as noted players - fine. But both these guys played an Aria Pro II SB and this was not the bass pictured. This information is so well-known in the bass domain that it just smacks of plain laziness to not have it presented fully and correctly.

Rant over.

I like the way they put the Ricky at No.1 and then have an interview with Geddy Lee in which he basically says that the Jazz is much better.
