AndyBob09
Hey guys, I'm currently studying BA (Hons) bass guitar at University and have my 3rd year performance exam looming. I'm not too sure what to play for the exam. It is only a 15 minute exam and can be made up of absolutely anything on the bass guitar and can be played with full band or backing tracks. Some people are playing the like of Some Skunk Funk, Got A Match?, Spain, etc etc. However, I see myself as more of a band player than a solo player so would like to stay away from that a little more and look at well constructed, fairly difficult basslines. Does anybody have any ideas as to what I could play for it? (Any transcriptions would go a long way too!) Cheers, Andy
Bilbo
'Got A Match'? Woudl like to hear that. I played it in a trio years ago. No tapes but I and am 100% sure we crucified it. As for tunes... what is the purpose of the exam? I am thinking one of the more sophisticated Jamerson lines from Shadows of Motown? Anything off 'The Nightfly'? 'Scophile' off John Patitucci's 'Sketchbook' cd?

Major-Minor
How about "Sir Duke" - Stevie Wonder. Mostly straightforward rhythm section playing, but then there is that great unison passage that every bass player should know. Not exactly hard to play, but as with all playing, it shows your skill if you play it well. Just a thought .... The Major
