bajistaman
Hi, I've got a Diago Powerstation that I bought a while ago, it wasn't cheap but it was suppose to be hum free. While using it in a loud environment (Reahearsal or Gigs) works fine but now that I'm recording makes a a nightmare trying to get rid of the hum that produces. I've sent an email to check if the problem is because the unit is faulty but I'm prepared to check for alternatives in case that doesnt work out well. Anyone has any experience with the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power?, it is very expensive but wanted to know if it's worthy. Thanks! Toasted
It'll be one of the pedals/cables that's creating the hum. Not the power station. Joe.
pantherairsoft
+1 on the above. I've experienced the exact same thing. Changed the power supply and it was still there. Removed every pedal and cable in turn to find the source - still there. Ended up being the way a certain cable interacted with a certain pedal and both had to be changed. I was convinced it was the power supply. I used a Diago Powerstation for a few years and it was, in my experience, completely hum free
bajistaman
Thanks, it actually makes hum once I plugged the tuner, will check the cables and the rest of the effects. Cheers! Johann
bajistaman
No luck trying different effects and cables, what I've found out is that it only happens when I connect the output signal of any effect to my USB audio interface: - if I use a normal amplifier doesn't make any noise. - No noise at all when using batteries on the effects - It doesn't stop if I unplug the laptop and run it on batteries. pantherairsoft
The USB interface prob has a very low noise floor compared to an amp etc. The same problem can be found with some non-true bypass high gain pedals. I always had problems with USB interfaces and noise, so I gave up trying. It's obviously the USB interface interacting with the Diago. I assume you don't use the USB live? Can you not just use batteries for recording and the Diago for live?
bajistaman
No, I dont use the USB for live so its only a problem when recording in my laptop. I can actually just use batteries when recording but its just annoying having something "hum-less" just under certain circumstances. The guys from Diago are going to contact me about my issue, I might get some sort of explanation or solution, will come back with any new findings. Thanks for your help! bajistaman
One of my friends lent me his ARTcessories Clean Box II to try reducing the noise and I can say that it makes it a lot quieter but still not the same as when not conected to the power adapter. Will keep reporting my findings. Cheers, Johann Edited April 2, 2011 by bajistaman
bajistaman
Problem solved changing the USB audio interface, I always had issues with the M-Audio MobilePre, now with the Steinberg CI1 everything works
