Tuning Question

Hey just a quick one
My band wants to cover Live Wire by Motley Crue which I believe is meant to be played in drop D but every bass tab I see on the internet is in standard and every guitar tab is in drop D Ive played along to the track and it didn't sound out of place but my ears are naff lol

Is it meant to be in different tunings and/or will it work?

Youre probably playing the right notes, just some of the notes will be an octave higher than in the song so it will sound right.
