Well this one is worth nearly as much, apparently. These were horrible pieces of firewood - has everyone lost their minds? Edited March 25, 2011 by pete.young
Bassassin
They're also very rare bits of horrid firewood and have genuinely become collectors' items. I doubt people paying this sort of money (as they seem to do) will have much interest in using them as instruments, & the red Watkins that's currently at £511 does look in exceptional condition for a mid-60s bass. I picked up a Rapier guitar at a car boot - paid £12 for it along with a wrecked Strat copy - I tidied it up as much as possible but it was still pretty tired-looking when I sold it. I was pretty amazed someone was willing to pay £250-odd for it, but being a collector is clearly a weird thing. Jon.
Happy Jack
This is really worth 50 quid more than AndyTravis fretless CIJ PB70 ?
Miss out on Andy's bass and there'll be another one along in a minute. You won't see many Rapiers in that nick turning up, and if the main intention is to hang it on the wall, or use it in of those pop video thingies, then the sound and playability don't really matter. It's genuine, innit?
BigRedX
As the others have said. They are collectable, and not very common nowadays. The red one looks in almost perfect condition, and the blue one is an uncommon colour - both are things that appeal to collectors.
