I have a Stingray which I love and I am addicted to the playability of its neck but I also want a bass with a neck pickup so I can come close to a Precision type of sound! I've seen some new Stingrays with a single coil on the neck position, like this one But I am looking for a fretted one and with a maple fingerboard. Does anybody knows where I can find one? Thanks!! Kiwi Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 You should be careful about pickup outputs if you choose to do your own modification. The HS stingrays have this issue as it is. I would probably go with a Sandberg Basic JM myself. Quote
fleamail Posted June 6, 2007 Author Posted June 6, 2007 The problem is that I can't find any other bass with a neck that I like 100% like I do with the sting. And the only thing that I miss from my stingray is that kind of p like sound that comes from a neck pickup! Quote
Kiwi Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 It might be possible for you to ask Sandberg to make a neck with custom dimensions for relatively little extra outlay (considering they're cheaper than Stingrays anyway and a bit more versatile.) Quote

Mr Cougar Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I have 2 stingrays and I have to say that my Sandberg JM is really just as good. The Califonia PM is also very good and should have a pretty similar neck to a stinger, unless you have one with a shiny satin finish from the early 90s type neck in which case you have rock all chance of getting one with a finish like that, cos that finish is the greatest ever neck finish IM(not so)HO. ---------------------------- Mr Cougar - will stand for no argument when it comes to neck finishes Quote
