janmaat Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 For sale is this gorgeous silver OLP MM3, 5 string, as new. For those who don't know, OLP manufactured these licensed from Ernie Ball MM, so the guitar is pretty exactly the same but passive. Bought here on the forum from a fellow BC'er a couple of weeks ago, since when I have rehearsed it a couple of times and it has given me the 5-string bug. It is extremely sensitive I find and has a wide range of sounds, though not the sound I'm after - I am not really a slapper nor d'n'b'er. Here is the original thread with images, though needless to say the silver looks way better "in the flesh" than on any photo. The bass lives in a flight case and is as new. Looking for 180.- plus posting, without case.

AgentCooper Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011
Is this active or passive?
OLP's are passive but stil very capable of giving bulk of the 'Ray Tone. Have a BTTT on me Janmaat. My 4 string OLP now resides in Canada with a friend as couldn't truly part with it. One of best neck's I've played at any price.
badboy1984 Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 hmm, I still thinking shall I sell my warwick and replace it with this baby.
Simmo Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Jans a great guy to deal with and this bass is truly a great bass for the money. Bump!
janmaat Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 It is passive and I am still toying with the project to make it active - that would make it into a super bass. Might even be worth doing that first and then selling it! Still available as is. Nice light weight for a 5er I find.
janmaat Posted July 4, 2011 Author Posted July 4, 2011 I have replaced the electronics by fitting a Pre-EB preamp replica made by BC's Higgie, volume bass treble, sitting with the battery in the original cavity, which is a great improvement of course, rightly in the opinion of many a must-do to these instruments, so it is now a really cool working horse. However, I am set to leave the country to Germany and need cash more than this bass and it is up for sales, GBP 250. It lives in South London in a recording studio now, an would love to receive visitors. (I could also carry it to Germany, Berlin, if that is of interest to anyone). Pictures to come.
