mr_russ Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Hi- have any of you tuned your Precision bass BEAD? I'm considering doing this but wondered how either a USA or CIJ Precision handles the low B in particular- obviously I may well need to replace the nut as I'll be using a .130 for the B etc. Anyone had any luck with this? Cheers ;D Russ Quote
wateroftyne Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 (edited) I haven't, but... Constance Redgrave of the Spikedrivers uses an early 60's P tuned BEAD. It sounds great. eude Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 There's a few guys on talkbass.com who've got their hands on the new American Std. Precision V. Apparently it kicks serious ass and is what all the P Bass purists have been waiting for... Cheers, Eude Quote

MacDaddy Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 I did it with my passive Sub. Had to widen the nut for the B, and adjust the set up, but no problems worked fine. Quote
markytbass Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Mr Russ If you do go ahead with the BEAD idea, Rotosound do a Swing bass 66 extra heavy (65-80-105-130). You can get these fron Stringbusters for £16. I don't know if you like Roto's or not but I think it saves buying a 5 string set paying more and only using 4 of them. Quote
mr_russ Posted February 6, 2008 Author Posted February 6, 2008 cheers guys ;D -I've got my eye on something at the moment, I'm in danger. Quote

There's no picture but the white with a maple board sounds delish! But you fancy a Precision tuned to B? They aren't everyone's cup o' tea but give this a listen: Reuben - Kick in the Mouth: Youtube As a bassist you probably know to watch Youtube with headphones if you wanna hear bass properly, but what a great sound. IMO of course. Quote
