JeSuisSkeleton
Tried to get some D'Addario Chromes for my Stingray today. Tried the Gallery, and most of Denmark Street. Couldn't find any except a 5 string super long scale set (not what I need). I seem to have trouble with buying strings in London; either seems to be Rotosounds or Elixirs. Is there anywhere else I should look where I can get some Chromes?
chrismuzz
I have always had that problem with strings. Have you tried buying online from say... http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/?

Now, as Chrismuzz above, I get mine from Stringsdirect. Plus points, even with postage, they`re generally cheaper than at the music shops, and they`re delivered to the door. L_Bass_Dog85
I use www.stringbusters.com Good service, never had a problem and always have what I am looking for. I'm a man who prefers to shop locally keeping small firms open, but they stock strings that I don't like. Did ask if they could bring stock in but they order by bulk, so they get the most 'popular'. It's a shame, but the internet prevails over local shops! Luke
JeSuisSkeleton
Thanks for the suggestions. I usually buy online (Overwater rounds), but was picking my bass up from the Gallery so figured I may as well buy some strings whilst I was in town. EDIT - Just ordered some Chromes from Stringbusters. £15 more expensive on Stringsdirect! Edited April 4, 2011 by JeSuisSkeleton
geoffbyrne
I've Just ordered a set of D'Addario Chromes from Sound Unlimited: http://www.soundunlimited.co.uk and can't thank Rich Turner enough. Having had some probs with the web site (which he says are being looked in to) I left a message on their phone at 4:30pm on Friday. Rich phoned about 10:30am Monday & spent a good half-hour with me on the phone, looking at various possibilities - at one point he thought he had a suitable but opened 4 string set for half-price & would get me a Low B, but they turned out to be medium scale - he's sent me a set of Chromes and discounted me the p&p for getting me excited about the opened 4 string set. A decent gesture & many thanks Rich - I'll be back to him for strings again. His price was the cheapest I could find for Chromes on Google UK. G. JeSuisSkeleton
My strings arrived but I think I bought the wrong gauge (the E in particular feels too thick). I've put them on the bass obviously, so am I right in thinking I can't send them back for a replacement?
